The Head Trainer’s boots at the Straight A are filled by Edgemont, South Dakota’s Cowboy, Tel Schaack.
 
Tel grew up roping calves and rodeoing while spending time doing what one might consider the opposite; under master influencers Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrence, he worked at honing his colt starting skills and natural horsemanship.
 
From there he worked his way West to Arizona, with a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of running large scale team roping events.  An opening with a show horse trainer in Texas landed him south and the ability to learn with one of the rope horse industries best. With a couple years under his belt working running ropings, assiting trainers and taking outside horses it came a perfect time to partner with the Straight A where goals paralleled to create the same kind of horse from the ground up for a specific customer in a specific place.
